What am I doing? 

I am part of a Dragon Boat team aiming to raise £20,000 to help pay for a cancer treatment room in memory of Mehboob Ahmed, at the Imran Khan Cancer Hospital in Lahore.

Mehboob returned to Allah only a few months ago in March 2021, after a 12 month battle with rare form of heart cancer. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to many, and was a strong supporter of the Imran Khan Cancer Hospital. 

In the 1990s when  Imran Khan was fundraising to build the hospital, Mehboob attended a charity cricket match versus India in Crystal Palace to help Imran Khan achieve this dream.

Our Dragon Boat team has been set up in honour of this noble cause, and Mehboob (may Allah have mercy on him), who was an amazing human being. We would like the treatment room to be a continuous charity for him and his beloved family. 

Oh Allah! Make Mehboob's grave a garden from among the best gardens of Jannah, illuminate his grave with light and tranquility, and raise him on the Day of Judgement without account, admitting him into Al-Firdous with the Prophet (SAW) and the righteous and all of his family, Ameen.

Please help us reach our humble target of £20,000, may Allah make it heavy on all of our scales and accept it from us, Ameen.

About Al Noor Boat Race

The Annual Boat Race is an event which has been established by the Al-Noor Foundation in the Summer of 2018, at Fairlop Waters in the London Borough of Redbridge. The next event will take place on Saturday 21st August 2021, inshaa Allah.

The event is open to all schools, faith groups, charities and corporate organisations. The event aims to unite the community whereby individuals, families and organisations have the opportunity to raise money for charitable causes which are close to their hearts, by simply registering for a boat and participating in the race.

Boat races are part of the great heritage of British culture and an amazing way to unite both competitors and communities together behind a common cause. Dragon Boat racing is something which is growing in popularity in the UK, originating from Southern China’s Guangdong Province.

The boats we will be using can accommodate up to 17 riders at a time and will be provided by a specialist Dragon Boat company which the Foundation has partnered up with to run the event.
