After nearly a decade, the Muslim Students Association at The University of Texas at Austin is hosting Fast-a-thon for charity! We are very excited to bring back this tradition. It will be held on March 4, 2022 at the university. Fast-a-thon is an event where students, faculty, and people outside of the UT community pledge to fast, abstaining from food and drink for one day to raise money, followed by dinner where we all break fast together!

This event is aimed to bring the whole community closer whilst educating and teaching about a key pillar in Islam. This event is a great opportunity for people who are not Muslim to take part in fasting and understand its purpose and benefits. We hope this event can play a vital role in raising money for charity on behalf of the community.Our goal this year is to gather 500 pledges and host 200 people to break their fast for dinner.

Numerous donors have contributed towards this event in previous years, and we would greatly appreciate it if you wanted to join that list! With your support we can make this event successful. In return for your generous donation, we can also advertise your business. The funds we raise will be going towards Islamic Relief’s Emergency Famine Appeal. Islamic Relief USA is well recognized for their humanitarian services for over 25 years. A donation of only $167 can provide a box of more than 200 packaged meals! Your donation can provide aid to various countries such as Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Sudan, Somalia, Niger, and Yemen! We seek to raise $3,000 for this awesome cause!

As Ramadan approaches us, we would love for you to aid us in to reaching our goal of promoting a sense of community and interfaith harmony, spreading the beauty of Islam, as well raising money for those in need.
